John has lived in Lowell since 2001. John currently owns and manages a successful insurance agency.  He graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, and is a former Lake County Prosecutor's office employee.

John is married to Katherine McLellan, daughter of Seth and Lillian McLellan. Katherine taught for 23 years in the Tri-Creek School Corporation. John and Katherine have a son, John, who attends Lowell High School.
